1. JAMES1 MATHESON was born June 1800 in Sutherlandshire Scotland, and died
December 22, 1880. He married (1) MARGARET SOUTHERLAND. She was born 1800,
and died 1846 in Evergreen Cemetery - "Who Was Who" Terry J Miller. He
married (2) MARGARET MCGAN. She was born 1799, and died August 10, 1870.

Notes for JAMES MATHESON:
Came to British America, the Red River Country, in 1821; went to Hanover in
1833 - was a farmer and stock dealer and owned 400 acres

1840 Census I found a James Matheson at Apple River, Jo Daviess Co., Ill of
the right age with a wife of the right age.

1860 Hanover, Il Lives two houses from Frederick C. Muller - granddaughter
4yrs born Wis. Margaret McKensey

1870 Census at Hanover, Ill as a farmer worth $8,000 and personal $3,000 and
two children who are his grandchildren a girl 12 Margaret Mc Kinsey (?) as a
housekeeper and a boy 11 Christopher same last name, both born in
Wisconsin. No one else in the house.

1880 With his daughter-in-law Margaret and her children.

son of FREDERICK MILLER and JANE HATFIELD. He was born January 06, 1860 in
Washington Township, Il, and died January 21, 1934 in Savanna, Il.

Notes for CHARLES EDWARD MILLER:
He was one of the organizers of the Carroll County Fair Association and was
a director for years. He lived on the Miller farm for more than 70 years.
He was the Washington township assessor and supervisor. He died on Sunday
evening at his daughter Elsie Winston's home of angina pectoris and had been
ill for four months.

He had completed his studies at Northern Illinois College at Fulton. His
specialty was Hereford cattle and high-grade stock on his 500 acres in
section 21, Washington Township - now part of the Mississippi Palisade State
Park.

On the 1870 Census Charles and his brother lived with their mother and her
half brother John in Washington Township.

On the 1880 Census both brothers lived with their mother's brother Edward
who was a widower and his two daughter.

1900 and 1910 Census in Washington Township

1920 Census lives next door to William D. Graves family and has a female
servant and a male boarder a Charles Lister.

1930 Census his wife and son George living with him in Washington Twnsp.

Illinois. He married FLORENCE GRAVES Abt. 1920, daughter of WILLIAM GRAVES
and EMMA METZ. She was born August 28, 1895 in Savanna, Il, and died July
1983 in Lanark.

on the 1930 census was in Washington Township, Carroll Co., Il - lives right
next door to Florence Graves

WW1 at Tallaferro Fields, Hicks, Texas
Enlisted as a private # 1106059 on 12/15/1917 at Chicago, Il. He was 27
with blue eyes, dark hair, ruddy complexion and 5'9 and not yet married. He
had an honorable discharge from the flying school detachment air service
aeronautics on 1/3/1919. He had no practise in marksmanship or gunner nor
did he mount a horse. He had no battles, engagements, skirmishes,
expeditions or wounds. His character was excellant. He was at the flying
school from 2/24/1918 to date of discharge.
