1. DANIEL W.2 METZ (ABRAM1) was born August 08, 1834 in Pennsylvania, and
died July 30, 1923 in Carroll County. He married REBECCA JANE BRANTHAVER,
daughter of GEORGE BRANTHAVER and SUSANNAH LEAP. She was born Abt. 1842 in
Pennsylvania, and died March 25, 1932 in Carroll County.

1850 Census it states that he is a "TWIN"
1860 Census found him in Westfield, Township, Bureau Co., Ill as a farm
hand, with a family (Benjamin Davis) that all had been born in Penn.
Came to Carroll County 1862
Per 1870 Census Mount Carroll Township, Carroll Co., Il - Farm worth $2,000
and personal property $2,000 - Had a seamstress living with from Pa. Susen
Hearmony

2. EMMA3 METZ (DANIEL W.2, ABRAM1) was born January 06, 1864 in Center
Hill, Il, and died 1957. She married WILLIAM D. GRAVES March 16, 1893 in
Her parent's home, son of WILLIAM GRAVES and AMELIA LISTER. He was born
January 17, 1866 in Near Center Hill,Illinois, and died June 05, 1928 in
Washington Township, Il.

After marriage first settled in Preston, Iowa where he was associated with a
creamery.

1911 moved to farm purchased from Howard Fish. the house had been built by
JW Miller. It had three gables and a lot of "gingerbread" work which was
painted pink and yellow - the house was white. THis farm had a running
spring and they built a spring house. I remember as a small child, about
three, being scared seeing a large black snake on the wall of the spring
house. In 1957 became part of the state park
1920 Census Washington Township, Carroll Co., Il his father from Dellaware
and mother England - this farms becomes part of the Mississippi Palisade
State Park

Three of the four children attended the Walnut Grove School which was at one
time the Mississippi Palisades Museum- in 2004 closed-

and Matheson School 1920-1921 per "Hanover" by Terry J. Miller
Graduated Savanna Township High School and then Master's Degree in education
from CHicago University. After many years of teaching she worked for the
American National Bank on North LaSalle Street, Chicago, Il
Died of Cancer

1958, Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa; b. May 31, 1897.

1930 Census in Washington Township with only her mother in the house-
states she works as a public school teacher
Graduated Northern Illinois University at De Kalb and attended Special
Courses at Platteville University and the University ofo Colorado. She
taught 47 years in Carroll and Jo Daviess before her marriage.
iv. VERNON DELBERT GRAVES, b. June 09, 1903; d. May 24, 1925.

Graduated Savanna High School - Graduated Gems Business College, Quincy, Ill
- Employed Carson, Pirie, Scott of Chicago. While at work he was stricked
by severe attack of appendicitis. Died of complications of a ruptured
appendix

1895 in Savanna, Il, and died July 1983 in Lanark. She married FREDERICK M
MILLER Abt. 1920, son of CHARLES MILLER and GEORGIANNA MATHESON. He was
born September 10, 1890 in Washington Township, Il, and died January 1963 in
Illinois.

on the 1930 census was in Washington Township, Carroll Co., Il - lives right
next door to Florence Graves
WW1 at Tallaferro Fields, Hicks, Texas
Enlisted as a private # 1106059 on 12/15/1917 at Chicago, Il. He was 27
with blue eyes, dark hair, ruddy complexion and 5'9 and not yet married. He
had an honorable discharge from the flying school detachment air service
aeronautics on 1/3/1919. He had no practise in marksmanship or gunner nor
did he mount a horse. He had no battles, engagements, skirmishes,
expeditions or wounds. His character was excellant. He was at the flying
school from 2/24/1918 to date of discharge.
