As we get information on Carroll County schools, I will add it here.

EDUCATIONAL

(From the 1878 History of Carroll County)

"The present superintendent is Mr. J. E. Millard, of Lanark, an educator of experience and learning.  Mr. Millard is now serving his eighth year, having been first elected about 1869 or 1870."

During the eight years that Mr. Millard has been superintendent, twenty-five new school buildings have been erected in the county, costing from $700 to $20,000 each."

I have a photo that says "Mt. Carroll-Ill-School.-1921. 2end Grade" in the lower right corner.  I would assume that someone in this class is from my husband's family, probably an Altensey.  Can anyone tell us who these children are?

These two photos are of the Mt. Carroll football team about 1952 or 1953.  Ray Lucas is number 41.  Can anyone tell us who the other boys are?  According to the 1953 yearbook, the boys in the first photo may be David Saidel, Donald Kille, Donald Keim, Gerald Weidman and Robert Wolber.
